Survivors of labor or sex trafficking may qualify for a T visa, which allows them to stay and work in the United States and can later lead to a green card. Trafficking can include being forced to work to pay off a debt, having your identity documents taken from you, or being threatened to keep you working.
Survivors generally must be willing to cooperate with reasonable requests from law enforcement, with exceptions for minors and for people suffering from trauma. Unlike the U visa, a T visa does not require a law enforcement certification. If any of this sounds familiar, call us. Your conversation with us is confidential.
